Class One (2014-2015)

                                        Trip to Sundown Adventureland



Class One had a successfull trip to Sundown Adventureland to enhance their  learning on their topic Fairy tales. Some of the children managed to get stuck in the witches cage in the Hansel and Gretel house!  The children have been riding on flying pigs. They used their sense of smell to identify the smell of chocolate in the fairytale sweet castle.

After a fun day we arrived back tired and happy. We are going to be writing our Hansel and Gretel story next week.

This term our topic is Fairytales. Our role play area is a castle and The Three Bears house.

We have been practising drama on Goldilocks and the Three Bears. (See slide show).

Year One are learning how to structure and write a fairy tale story.

    We have been setting lots of different kinds of bulbs which were kindly donated by Lincolnshire-based Bakker Spalding Garden Company (www.spaldingbulb.co.uk) – the largest garden specialist in Europe – to promote the company’s 70th birthday celebrations this year.  We will be monitoring their progress and will let you know when they grow.

  This term our topic is plants and growth. We are going to be busy planting seeds and watching how they grow. We are also learning about a plants structure and different types of flowers (wild and garden).

In English we are looking at the traditional tale 'Jack and the Beanstalk, writing information about plants and poetry.

 Please continue to support your child's learning by listening to them read daily, completing homework task and learning sounds or spellings.

PE kit should be in school at all times.

                                    Welcome back to a new term.

 This term our topic is sculptures.

We have a museum for our art sculptures in the role play area and a sculpture workshop outside. The children have made sculptures from k-nex and blocks. We are practising our skills at securing string to a twig ready for our twig sculpture.

       Now we can all tie string we have been making twig sculptures!

       If you want to know how to make one you need to look at the instructions

        in our English book. We have used the twigs for counting and sharing activites

        in maths.

  Class One have been out with our reception friends from our collaborative partnership schools.

The children enjoyed a walk around Baytree looking at the reindeer and other animals. The children thought the Christmas lights were amazing. We visited Winter Wonderland and was lucky enough to see Father Christmas in his grotto. All the children recieved a Christmas tree to take home. We then had lunch at Fun Farm and a play with our friends. What a surprise when Elsa turned up from Frozen!

                       Welcome back after our October half term break.

This term our topic is festivals.

We will be learning about the firework festival the Jewish festival of sukkot and Hanukkah and the Christmas Festival.

PE kit needs to be in school for every Wednesday and Thursday.

Homework will be sent out on Thursday and needs to be returned by Wednesday of the following week.

Please continue to hear your child read daily.

Welcome to an exciting new school year in Class One.


This term our topic is My Community and Me!  We have a post office role play area and a doctors surgery. We are learning how our bodies work. We have been getting messy doing hand printing. 


In Science our topic is the weather. We are learning about the month and season of our birthdays. We will be recording the weather and comparing the data later in the term.


Please can you support your child with their homework it will be given out on a Thursday and will need to be handed in by the following Wednesday. 

Hearing your child read daily,has a big impact on their learning and progress.  


PE is on Wednesday and Thursday please make sure kit is in school, track suit bottoms would be useful for outdoor PE when the weather changes.
